Abstract
1, 038, 205. Finishing fabrics; textile treating apparatus. TEXTILIPARI KUTATO INTEZET. June 9, 1964 [Oct. 14, 1963], No. 23814/64. Headings D1L and D1S. A process for treating textile material, yarns, woven or knitted fabrics produced from cotton, regenerated cellulose, wool, silk or synthetic organic fibres, with liquid or paste-like solutions, emulsions or mixtures of dyes or chemicals, comprises, before the textile material is put into contact with the liquid or paste-like treatment means, heating the material to a temperature at which it does not undergo any chemical, e.g. thermal, decomposition but which is high enough for the textile material to have a higher temperature than that of the liquid or paste-like treatment means used when it comes into contact therewith. Specified treatments are dyeing, bleaching, mercerizing, printing, dressing and finishing. Textile materials consisting of cotton or other cellulose fibres are heated to a temperature of 140- 200‹C., those consisting of wool or silk to 80- 100‹C., and those consisting of synthetic fibres to a temperature below the softening point thereof. The textile material may be heated by hot air or other gases, heated plates or rollers, infra-red radiation or high frequency heating. The heating device may be equipped with a temperature regulator or a safety switch. The treatment means may be cold or heated to a lower temperature than that of the textile material. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a textile fabric 7 is conveyed by rollers 4, 5, 6 through a heating box 1 having a removable wall 2 and is heated partly by radiation and partly by convection from heating members 3. A weight 19 on a chain 17 passing over a wheel 18 suspends the box 1 and tensions the fabric 7. The box 1 abuts on a guide 16 by rollers 15. The roller 6 is immersed in the treatment liquid 10 in a trough 8 connected to the main trough 11 of a Foulard machine by a tube 9. Dye liquor entering through a tube 12 is conveyed to both troughs 8, 11. Squeezing rollers 14 are provided. To prevent overheating of the fabric 7 upon interruption of the continuous feed thereof cold air can be blown into the box 1 through a tube 20. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, of the heating box 26, rollers 27, 27a are fixed and rollers 28, 29 are vertically movable by a continuous belt 30 movable around rollers 31. If the fabric feed is interrupted a roller 34 disposed between fixedposition rollers 33 moves vertically downwardly and the belt 30 moves in the direction shown by the arrow so that rollers 28, 29 move the textile fabric away from the heating members 32 to the position of Fig. 3 (not shown). The textile fabric is prevented from overheating at the outlet side of the box 26 by a screen 35. In a third embodiment, Fig. 4, the fabric 43 is conveyed over a roller 41, through an opening 44 into a drum 37, around two drums 38, 39 heated by bodies 40, through an opening 45, around a roller 42 and into a Foulard machine 49. Rollers 46 facilitate the passage of the fabric 43 through the openings 44, 45. At the point 47 in the wall of the drum 37 a weight is provided which tends to turn the drum 37 in the direction of the arrow 48. When the fabric feed is interrupted and the fabric tension slackens the weight 47 turns the drum 37 to remove the fabric 43 from the drums 38, 39, Fig. 5 (not shown).
