Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:1037896/C2/1> where R1 is alkyl (1-6 C), phenyl or phenyl substituted by one or two halogen atoms, and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl (1-6 C), phenyl or phenyl substituted by one or two halogen atoms, or R1 and R2 are combined to form a cycloalkyl group; and their preparation by reacting iodine with compounds R1R2C(OH).CH2.C ­ CH in an aqueous alcohol and in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide. Compounds R1R2C(OH).CH2.C ­ CH are prepared from propargyl bromide and R1R2CO with zinc. Pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions comprise compounds I with carriers. External application of these antimicrobial compounds is mentioned.
