Abstract

1,037,433. Shaft couplings. YARROW & CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1963, No. 4748/63. Addition to 917,521. Heading F2U. The flexible rotary coupling described in the parent Specification is modified by filling the damping chambers with gas instead of liquid. In the arrangement shown two series of gasfilled hemispherically-ended rubber containers 35a, 35b are mounted between vanes 34a, 34b on the coupling members 24, 25 and communicate by radial passages 37a, 37b with two axially separated annular cavities 36a, 36b (not shown). A second arrangement, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), corresponds to that of Figs. 22, 23 of the parent Specification; but with the bellows 12, 12a, grooves 71, 71a and ducts 72, 72a filled with gas in place of liquid. A third arrangement, Fig. 1 (not shown), also employs gas-filled bellows.
