Abstract
1,037,109. Poultry drinking troughs. H. D. SHARMAN. Dec. 3, 1964 [Nov 26, 1963; Jan. 25, 1964; March 13, 1964], Nos. 46574/63, 3286/64 and 10700/64. Heading A1M. A drinking trough for use with battery cages comprises a metal trough 11 provided with a lining 12 of synthetic plastics material. The trough 11 is preferably formed in two parts the part A being shaped to provide a groove into which is fitted a tongue 11b<SP>1</SP> formed on the part B. The edges of the lining are held under flanges 11d formed on trough 11 or alternatively both edges of the lining 12 may be held under the same flange 11d, openings then being formed in the lining to provide access to the water. In a modification the upper edge of the lining is shaped to provide a groove which hooks over the upper edges of the trough sides. A cover 13 with drinking apertures 13a may be provided and heating wires 15 can extend under the lining or be located in the lining.
