1,037,008. Floating pump sets; fuel reservoirs. J. B. HANDFORD. Oct. 7, 1964 [Oct. 15, 1963], No. 40832/64. Headings FIB and F1C. A transportable float-supported centrifugal pump set comprises a float 5 which may be of four equal lengths of aluminium tubing mitred at each end and welded together to form a square in plan view. A metal platform 4 is welded to the float to form a support for the I.C. engine (not shown) which drives the centrifugal pump through a shaft 25. The pump casing 20 is mounted below the platform 4 by means of three pillars 21 (two shown) so that it is immersed in the liquid on which the set floats. The engine may be connected to the float by straps instead of a platform. The float may be of circular or other shape instead of square and may be filled with buoyant material. A number of floats may be used. Instead of being mounted on the engine, the fuel tank may be carried on a separate floating structure or on firm ground and connected to the engine through a hose, and remote electrical or mechanical engine control mechanism may also be carried with the fuel tank.
