Abstract

Abrasive articles comprise abrasive coated material in which a proportion of the abrasive granules have been replaced by iron sulphide granules having a particle size greater than 100 mesh B.S.S. The sulphide may be in the form of iron pyrites, troilite or marcasite. The abrasive may be fused alumina. The examples describe abrasive belts prepared by adhesively coating cotton drill with a mixture of water-soluble phenolic resin, calcium carbonate and ethylene glycol, evenly distributing the alumina/sulphide composition on the belt and applying a second coating of adhesive.
