Abstract

103,625. Brokaw, W. G. Sept. 29, 1916. Balls.-In means for inflating footballs, &c., comprising a frangible cartridge or container of compressed or liquified air or gas, the glass gas container a is enclosed in a sheath or casing c having packings g of rubber &c. to prevent shock, and the neck b of the container is enclosed by a sheath f of somewhat thick rubber attached to the nozzle c of the casing c, and by a cap n. The free end of the sheath f is fitted with a nozzle h having a screw-threaded orifice i, by which the cartridge may be attached to the valve nipple of the article to be inflated, the inflation being effected by breaking the neck b with the hand. To prevent ejection of the broken glass &c., the orifice i is made of smaller diameter than the neck b, and a perforated disk or wirecloth guard l may also be provided.
