Abstract

1,035,135. Circular curve drawing instrument. G. E. MOORE, and A. T. E. MOORE. June 3, 1965 [June 3, 1964], No. 22876/64. Heading B6P. An instrument for drawing arcuate curves comprises a carriage 10 having two portions 12 and 13 each having a pair of wheels mounted on coaxial axes. One portion of the carriage is pivoted to the other about an axis which is situated on a medial line normal to the axis of rotation of each pair of wheels. A marking instrument 30 is attached to a bar 28 pivoted between two blocks 29. The two carriage portions are clamped by a wing-nut in the adjusted position for a particular radius, and the carriage is then propelled across the surface to be marked. The degree of adjustment can be set with a scale 32, Fig. 2 (not shown), on one carriage portion against a marker on the other carriage portion. Alternatively a sine bar or a slip gauge can be used to set the adjustment, the bar or gauge being positioned between a plane surface 26 on one carriage portion and both or one accurately positioned setting stud 24 mounted on the other carriage portion. As a further alternative one carriage portion may have a single wheel instead of a pair.
