Washing, processes and materials for.-Cotton goods containing foreign matter, such as motes, shives, or leaf, are treated in a bath containing an alkaline oxidizing-agent and a dye, whereby the foreign matter is removed and the cotton dyed. Suitable alkaline oxidizing-agents are mixtures of soda ash, caustic soda, sodium silicate or phosphate, with sodium peroxide, percarbonate, perborate, or persulphate, or hydrogen peroxide.
