Abstract

103,432. Akt.-Ges. Cilander. Feb. 9, 1916, [Convention date]. Resist printing; inkless printing by chemical reaction.-Pattern effects are produced on cotton fabrics by printing them with a resist and treating them with sulphuric acid of a strength not above 50¢‹ BÚ. and at a temperature not above -4‹C. The parts treated by the acid become transparent after mercerization, and previously non-mercerized fabric, so treated, has parts having a wool-like appearance. The effect is increased by subsequent dyeing, the dyestuffs having a greater affinity for the parts treated by the acid.
