Abstract

1,033,984. Fuze cords. CANADIAN SAFETY FUSE CO. Ltd. March 19, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 10723/63. Heading F3A. Explosive cord of low brisance for connecting together explosive charges comprises a core of pentaerythritol tetranitrate within a textile sheath surrounded by a protective and reinforcing covering such as a thermoplastic, the core having a specific surface of at least 900 sq. cms./gram and a concentration of at least 1À5 grains per ft. for specific surfaces up to 3400 sq. cms./gram. The core 1 and the textile sheath 2 may be covered with a layer 3 of asphalt over which a tape 4 is wound. A textile countering 5 may surround the tape and a wax layer 6 may cover the whole. Specific surface is the surface area per unit weight of explosive.
