Abstract

An electric iron has a plurality of longitudinally and transversely extending channels lying in a plane or planes parallel to the working surface of the iron and a plurality of channels perpendicular to these planes whose upper ends communicate with the first two sets of channels and whose lower ends open on to the working surface, the network of channels allowing steam to escape from the article being ironed. Slots 5, Fig. 5 (not shown) may be provided in the sides of the iron to allow for ironing close to buttons and the like.
