Teeth, artificial.-An artificial tooth for vulcanite work is formed on its lingual surface with an undercut recess the undercut walls of which increase in width towards the incisive end of the tooth. The tooth may also be formed with a metal pin or integral porcelain projection embraced by the undercut sides of the recess. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the recess 7 is formed with an inner wall 8 inclined labially towards the incisive edge 13, and a pin 12 is secured in the tooth so as to project into the recess. In a modification of this form, the inner wall of the recess is vertical. Fig. 10 shows a form of tooth in which the recess 64 terminates in two separate pockets 69. Fig. 13 shows a tooth having a preferably undercut projection 82 integral with the tooth body, and Figs. 14 and 16 show a modification in which a groove or counterrecess 89 extends labially at the intersection of the sides and inner wall of the recess 85. Figs. 2, 3, 14, and 16 show also transverse apertures 10, 91 extending through the teeth and preferably cutting into the bottoms of the undercut recesses. This feature may be incorporated in any of the modifications described. Teeth may also be formed in which the inner wall of the recess is curved in convex or concave form, the curvature extending either longitudinally or laterally.
