Abstract

1,033,084. Change-pole induction motors. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Dec. 5, 1963 [Sept. 11. 1962], No. 34668/62. Heading H2A. In a variable speed induction motor operating " stretching " and " shrinking " the polepitches by the simple reversal of alternate sets of coils as described in Specification 978,211, the coil-sets (called " blocks " in the present Specification) are not tapered, triangular &c. but of rectangular form, the voltage balance and harmonic content being improved by the use of interleaved sub-blocks. Thus, as shown for a winding having a # block shown unshaded and a 2# block shown shaded, the ends of the two blocks are interleaved. Winding layouts for various machines are given.
