Abstract
1,032,786. Injection moulding. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Nov. 13, 1963 [Nov. 13, 1962], No. 42945/62. Heading B5A. A method for the manufacture of a vulcanized moulded rubber article which comprises injection moulding a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising at least 10% by weight based on total rubber in the composition, of a cis 1,4-polyisoprene having a cis 1,4-content of at least 80% and an intrinsic viscosity as measured in toluene at 25‹ C. prior to compounding of between 6 and 12 dl./g. A screw injection moulding machine with a reciprocating screw is used. The feed is in the form of cold strips, it is necessary to provide cooling means on the cylinder and/or screw to prevent scorching or prevulcanization. The usual vulcanization accelerators and antioxidants are used. The examples refer to the moulding of shoe soles and ice-cube trays.
