Abstract

A composition for high extrusion speed wire insulation comprises a first ethylene polymer having a density of from 0.915 to 0.925 and per 100 parts thereof from 2 to 66.7 parts by weight of a second ethylene polymer having a density above 0.939 and a melt flow at 440 p.s.i. and 190 DEG C. of 3 and less. The highdensity polymer may be a copolymer of ethylene with up to 10% of an a -olefin such as butene-1. The low-density polymer may be a copolymer of ethylene with up to 10% of one or more copolymerizable organic compounds, such as those having the ethylene linkage, a number of which are listed. Conventional fillers, extenders, opacifiers, modifiers and stabilizers may be added.
