Abstract
1,032,066. Commutation arrangements for dynamo - electric machines. KABUSHIKI KAISHA HITACHI SEISAKUSHO. April 30, 1963, No. 16985/63. Heading H2A. In a commutatorless electric motor an inductive, high frequency, pick-off device supplies triggering signals to the transistors which control the sequential supply of power to the armature winding. A high frequency A.C. voltage is induced in secondary winding L2 of the rotary transformer from primary winding L1 which is supplied from oscillator O. This A.C. is detected by either of coils La or Lb, by inductive coupling with rotating coil L3, and is used, after rectification, to cause transistors Ta, Tb to conduct, thus connecting power supply E to each half L4, L5 of the armature winding in sequence and thus cause the permanent magnet rotor R to rotate. In modifications the rotating coil may be replaced by a shaped magnetic member which induces a voltage in the pick-up coils or an electrostatic system may be used. In order to eliminate the spurious signals induced in the second pick-up coil a high frequency signal from the oscillator is introduced in the common lead from the pick-up coils both of which simultaneously pick up signals which are 180 degrees out of phase. If all voltages are made equal then the oscillator signal will cancel each of the pick-up coil signals in turn.
