Abstract
A catalyst composition comprises Pd supported on a mixture of e - and g - Al2O3 which is substantially free of alkali and has a surface area of 20-200 m2/gm. The Pd content of the catalyst is preferably 0,1-2%. The Al2O3 may be obtained by drying and calcining boehmite/bayerite slurries shaped, calcined, impregnated with PdCl2, dried and reduced with H. COONa.
