Control-transmitting gear for winding apparatus. - In cranes, hoists, grab-dredgers, and similar lifting-appliances wherein the hoisting-clutch a and the brake g<1> are operated by the same hand-lever d, the brake is applied fully prior to the release of the clutch between the engine and the hoisting-drum g. The clutch is actuated by a bell-crank lever b, b<1> having a pin- and-slot connexion with the connecting-rod c and engaged by a pivoted catch e when the clutch is in gear. When the lever d is moved upwards, the brake g' is at once tightened, but the clutch a is not withdrawn by the spring h until a stop c<1> attached to the connecting-rod c has moved the catch e out of engagement with the lever b<1>.
