Abstract

1,029,995. Microwave ovens; R.F. couplings. A. B. ELECTROLUX. March 11, 1963 [March 14, 1962], No. 9494/63. Headings H4A and H5H. [Also in Division H1] Damping bodies 7 are provided in the cavity of a microwave oven at positions of maximum electric field strength to prevent damage to the magnetron 1 by reflection when there is no " useful " load in the cavity. The bodies 7 may be in the form of rods (as shown) or cones, and should have a length of #/2. Suitable materials are graphite with an insulating binding material, e.g. ceramics, cement or plastics, or metal covered with an enamel containing iron powder. The magnetron 1 has an antenna 3 extending into a waveguide 4 with a tuning piston 6. A field stirrer 8 is driven by a motor 9.
