Abstract

1,029,773. Dewatering gravel and the like. HARDY and PADMORE Ltd. Feb. 6,1964 [Feb. 6, 1963], No. 4779/63. Heading B1D. Sand, gravel and the like to be dewatered is fed through a non-rotatable feeding tube 19 and falls on to a transverse member 20 rotating with a perforated drum 14. The material is flung outwardly by centrifugal force to impinge against the inner side of the drum so causing water to pass through the perforations into a vessel 15 , with an outlet 17. The drum is vibrated axially by two members 18 fixed to a secondary frame 2. The drum is secured to a rotatable shaft 4 through a flanged collar 11 and the shaft is secured by thrust bearings to a sleeve 6 bolted to the frame 2. This frame 2 is spring mounted on a main frame 1, and a motor 10 secured to the main frame rotates the shaft 4 through a pulley 8. The drum is preferably of stainless steel.
