Abstract

1,029,623. Mass spectrometers. ATLAS MESSUND ANALYSENTECHNIK G.m.b.H. Feb. 12, 1963 [Feb. 13, 1962], No. 5695/63. Heading H1D. In a mass spectrometer sample inlet system as shown, comprising two storage containers a, b containing respectively the sample gas and a standard gas and capillary supply tubes c, d with constrictions at f and g, the capillary tubes c, d are cut off immediately beyond the constrictions f, g where control valves v are provided. The control valves are constituted by bored valve stems v sealed against the valve housings by diaphragms w and actuated by screwed spindles y. The constrictions f, g are formed by squeezing the capillary tubes between jaw clamps s, t. The tube ends u are sharpened to blade-like edges.
