Abstract

Diffusion-resistant photographically active compounds containing at least one acid azide (-CON3) group are reacted with gelatin so as to acylate free amino or hydroxy groups in the gelatin and thereby link the active compound thereto; the product is used as an addition for a photographic layer. The active compound may be a colour coupler, optical brightening agent, hardener, filter dye, developer or anti-foggant; examples are given of the first three of these.
