Abstract

1,028,970. Piezo-electric elements. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. March 28, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12266/63. Heading H1E. A piezo-electric element comprises a disc of e.g. polarized barium titanate or lead zirconium titanate electroded on opposite faces and provided with a mode-suppressing ridge or ridges. The disc shown in Fig. 6 is provided with an annular ridge 4, the diameter of the ridge being equal to the diameter at which the first harmonic of the radial mode has its maximum amplitude whereby this harmonic is suppressed. For the same purpose, the disc may be provided with diametral ridges lying at right-angles to each other and arranged on opposite faces of the disc.
