Abstract

1,028,258. Cable spacers. BURNDY CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 20, 1963], No. 50775/64. Heading H2C. A spacer for sub-conductors of overhead transmission lines has conductor clamps 20, 21, 22, 23 connected to arms of a support frame 15 by blocks of elastomeric material 16, 17, 18, 19 which are placed in shear stress by vertical motion of the conductors relative to the frame 15, so as to damp out unwanted vibrations. The blocks are bonded to the arms and to extensions on the cable clamps (Fig. 2, not shown). The support frame can be of X-shape. Extensions 28 limit the sub-conductors movement and prevent corona discharge.
