In an asphalt mixing plant, feed hoppers 10 deliver measured quantities of material to an endless band inclined elevator 11 above which infra-red heaters 16 are positioned to dry the material whilst being conveyed without agitation on the conveyer before discharge through a vibrating screen 13 to storage bins 12 and the material is then fed through ducts 14 to one or more asphalt mixers 15.
