Abstract

1,027,717. Cleaning boiler tubes. POWER TUBE Inc. Nov. 10, 1964 [June 15, 1964], No. 45714/64. Heading F2N. Apparatus for cleaning boiler tubes 12 has an ejector unit 80 for thrusting a cleaning instrument 43 into and along the tube which is adjustably movable along a standard 46 spanning the space between upper and lower tracks, 30 and 36, parallel to each other and to the rows of boiler tubes and situated at the top and bottom of the boiler 14. The cleaning instrument is a hollow shaft 43 of helically wound spring-steel and has a cable through its centre to prevent extension. It passes right through the ejector casing and has a scraper and a discshaped brush at its front end next the tubes 12 (Fig. 1, not shown). Inside the casing 80 the shaft 43 is gripped adjustably between a pair of grooved rollers situated one above the other in the vertical plane with axes parallel to the front face 20 of the boiler; one of the rollers being driven by the motor 76. The top and bottom of the standard 46 are movable along the rails 30 and 36 and the position of the ejector on the standard is regulated by the winch 137 and cable 136.
