Abstract

1,027,705. Selective signalling. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963 (2); Sept. 14, 1963 (2)], No. 35347/64. Heading G4H. A magnetic core recoding circuit is characterized in that each core is associated with a single input combination of signals. In a first embodiment each input combination of signals sets all cores, except the one corresponding core, to their " one " condition. A further pulse, applied to all the cores, then causes that one core to be switched to its " one " condition and in so doing it induces a combination of signals in a set of output windings, thereby effecting the required recoding. In a second embodiment each input combination is arranged to switch only that one core to which it corresponds, thereby producing immediately output signals thus effecting the desired recoding. To compensate in the first embodiment for spurious pulses produced, by cores already in their " one " condition but which, because of the application of the further pulse make an excursion along a horizontal portion of the hysteresis curve, a second set of cores is paired with the first set and so arranged as to make a similar, but oppositely directed excursion, whereby similar, but oppositely poled, spurious signals are induced in the output windings, thus effecting the required compensation. To enhance the size of the output signals each output winding can form part of a transistor blocking oscillator.
