The subject matter is identical with that of Specification 1,072,201 but the claims are directed to an apparatus for generating a product of combustion atmosphere suitable for preserving or conditioning animal or vegetable products, comprising a generator for the catalytic combustion of a hydrocarbon fuel, means for supplying fuel and air to the generator, an outlet conduit for passing products of combustion from the generator, means forming a place, of disposal for the products of combustion from the generator, means for utilizing the products of combustion atmosphere, and temperature controlled means for directing the products of combustion to the place of disposal until the generator has reached a predetermined elevated temperature, and then to the utilization means.
