Abstract

A method a manufacturing a reinforced plate member comprises the steps of plunging holes in said plate member so that the plunged out metal remains around the circumference of the holes, forming holes in two or more cross-plates placing the plate member and cross-plates in juxta-position so that the plunged out metal extends through the holes in the cross-plates and riveting the plate member and the cross-plates together by stamping the plunged out material against the side of the cross-plates remote from the plate member.
