Abstract

An oil suitable for pharmaceutical use is obtained by heating raw unpurified oil of the fish sebastes marinum (sea or ocean perch) without access to oxygen, adding hot water to the product, centrifuging, cooling in several stages, and filtering under pressure at 0 DEG C. In the preferred process the heating is carried out for 30 minutes at 50 DEG C., then 30% by weight of water at 60 DEG C. is added, and after centrifuging the solution is cooled in three stages, the first at +10 DEG C. in a heat exchanger, the second down to +1 DEG C. in a passage-cooler, and the third in a crystallizer at -2 DEG C., followed by filtration at 0 DEG C. under 2 atmospheres pressure.
