Abstract

102,566. Lane, J. B. April 20, 1916. Moulds.-Multiple moulds, of the type in which a number of mould cavities are formed in and between two horizontal plates, of which the upper communicates by gates with a tray for mixing molten metal, have special ingates and mounting and clamping mechanism for the lower mould plate. The upper plate 1 is secured to the frame by screws 3 and has ingates in the form of countercranks 9 so that when the tray 5 is moved bv an eccentric 6<a> the runners ride up the countersinks and are removed by combining shearing and tensile strain. The lower plate is connected at 8<a> to a cross shaft and is balanced at 17. When in casting position, the plate is clamped by sliding members 12 carrying cams 15 or wedges. Registration is securei by dowels 18.
