Abstract
1,025,636. Dielectric embossing. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. March 11, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 10340/65. Heading B6J. Shields 16 and 18, to prevent the electrodes of a dielectric embossing press interfering with radio reception &c. are attached to the upper and lower press members to surround electrodes 20 and 22, Fig. 2. The upper shield 16 comprises two parallel metal plates 58 and 60 and the lower shield comprises a single metal plate. In plan view the shields form rectangles about the electrodes, as illustrated in Fig. 4 (not shown). A resilient rubber non-conductive edging 34 is fitted over the edge of the lower shield 18, and this edging is covered with a copper wire fabric 32 secured to the shield 18 with a plurality of bolts 40. When the press members are brought together, the two shields engage telescopically, as shown, and in addition complete the mains electric circuit of the embossing press.
