Abstract

1,025,610. Washing granular materials. H. HEIGL. Feb. 18,1965 [Feb. 21, 1964], No. 7043/65. Heading B2H. A mixture of sand and water obtained in the recovery of coarse gravel is fed through an inlet 2 on to a deflector 15 which causes large particles to settle in a cylindrical container 14 for discharge through an outlet pipe 16 and the light particles to flow over a rim 17 for further separation, the heavier particles settling for removal through a suction pipe 3 and the lighter particles flowing over a rim 5 into a discharge outlet 4 which is connected by conduits 8 to an inner gutter 9. The height of the rims may be adjusted by use of grooved strips 17, 7, 6 of resilient material. The inner gutter 9 itself may be adjustable in height and, if desired, divided into segments each discharging through a pair of flexible connections 8 to the outer gutter 4.
