Abstract
102,533. McLaren, J., and McLa:ren, H. Feb. 2, 1916. Power hammers; embossing.-In a machine for stamping particulars on shells or other articles, in which the dies are carried in a head as described in Specification 11340/15, the head is formed with ratchet teeth 1<a> engaged by an eccentric-operated pawl 3, and is arranged below a helved hammer 6. The helve is secured by bolts 7b to a block 7, which is pivoted at 8 and oscillated by a, cam 9 and spring 10 adjustable to vary the force of the blow. The hammer can be held up by a lever 11 engaging under a pin 7<a>, and the pawl 3 can be lifted out of action by a pin 12<a> on a lever 12. The shell X is held down by a hand-operated screw 18 acting on the head 1, which is secured to the shell by a set screw. A guard 13, having sets of holes for securing the belt-shifting lever 14, is provided.
