Abstract

102,474. Lamb, M. B., and Sinclair, N. J. Sept. 2, 1916. Medical vessels, cleaning and disinfecting.- Apparatus for cleaning and sterilizing sputum flasks, mugs, &c. used in hospitals &c. comprises a closed liquid receptacle 1 in which is arranged a tray 4 provided with openings 7, over which the vessels a, b are placed. In the openings project a series of steam and water tubes 14, the lower ends of which are fitted with water-inlet cones 12 and steam nozzles 17, the latter being connected to a distributor 20 having a steam inlet 22. The central tube 11 passes up through the perforated dome 8 and is surmounted bv a deflector 23 whereby a spray of steam and water is directed against the exteriors of the vessels. For holding mugs b, loose perforated disks 24 are used, together with clamps 26 carried on pillars 27 and held down by springs 29 and fly-nuts 28. The holders 26 may be replaced by a single plate held down by screws.
