Abstract

Multi-coloured lipsticks are prepared by making up separate batches of differently coloured lipstick base formulation, to which are added 0.1 to 12% by weight of an inert fortifying agent to increase the viscosity of the melted formulation, melting the separate formulations, and combining them into a unitary product having two or more heterogeneously associated colours. Conventional lipstick base formulations may be used; the inert fortifying agent is preferably finely divided silica, or may be alumina, CaCO3, MgCO3, bentonite, talc, zinc oxide, or suitable oil-soluble resins, metallic soaps, or viscous polymerised oils.
