Abstract

Heading D1A A rotatable perforated washing machine drum is made of a ceramic material such as porcelain and may have integral lifters 35. One end wall 30 has an opening 29 and the other end wall 31 is adapted to be attached to a shaft 56 by means of plates 58, 59, Fig. 3 (not shown), which are positioned one on each side of the said wall. The plate 59 is rigidly attached to the shaft and is bolted to the plate 58 and wall 31 by bolts 62 integral with plate 58. Packing rings 60, 61 and a sleeve 57 of rubber are provided between the plates 58, 59 and shaft 56, and the end wall 31 of the drum.
