Abstract

1,023,084. Electric analogue calculating. CONTRAVES A.G. Aug. 25, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No. 34655/64. Heading G4G. A circuit for multiplying two electric analogue voltages U x U y from sources G x , G y comprises (Fig. 1) chopper modulator stages M x , M y utilizing transistors T mx , T my whose bases are energized with square-wave voltages V sx , V s y mutually phase offset by #/2; from source Qs; 2 in which a multivibrator operating at four times the required frequency energizes a binary divider to produce mutually inverted squarewaves at double that frequency to energize two further binary dividers producing the required waveforms. The modulated outputs of M x , My are added at transistor T a limited by Zener divider Z, and applied to photo-electrically (or thermally or magnetically) controlled resistor P, responsive to a multiplier variable by an external programme, to develop a variable amplitude composite waveform which is amplified at V and applied to demodulators Dx, Dy containing switching transistors Td x , Td y base energized by square-wave voltages U sx , U sy . The demodulated outputs are smoothed by R.C. filters to analogue voltages pU x , pUy
