[Also in Division B3] A brush drilling and/or filling machine comprises at least one magazine for the brush bodies and an adjustable workpiece holder adapted to reciprocate between a receiving position under the delivery opening of the magazine, and a working position, said workpiece holder consisting of a base frame, at least one abutment rail on said base frame, and at least one adjustable clamping jaw co-operating with the abutment rail. The work holder 6 Figs. 1-3 (not shown) has a base 7 carrying a stop 8, guides 9 and a pneumatically actuated clamping jaw 12, and is pivotally about bearings 31 by a pneumatic cylinder 33 up to stops 35. The magazine 1 comprises guides 3 and the first brush body 2a is supported on levers 16, 17 pivoted at 14, 15 Fig. 6 (not shown) by a sliding block 21. The second brush body 2b and therefore all of the subsequent bodies are held in the magazine by a clamping pin 23, the movement of which is controlled by a pneumatically actuated block 21. In operation, the magazine is filled with brush bodies 2, body 2a rests on levers 16, 17 and holder 6 faces the end 5 of magazines 1, Fig. 1 (not shown). Block 21 moves towards the magazine, and pin 23 clamps workpiece 2b levers 16, 17 open workpiece 2a drops on to holder 6, and is clamped by jaw 12. Block 21 is retracted to allow levers 16, 17 to close for reception of the next workpiece the workholder is pivoted to the position of Fig. 2, (not shown) whereupon the brush is drilled and/or filled and is then ejected by a device 37. In a modification Figs. 8, 10, (not shown) magazine 1 is temporarily closed by rails 38 mounted on the workpiece holder 6a, and the latter slides on guides 36. In a further modification holder 6a is shifted transversely to the magazine. In a still further modification two magazines 1b, 1c Figs. 11-13 (not shown) are provided, each with a pivoting workholder 6b, 6c and the ends of the magazine are temporarily closed by curved plates 38b, 38c carried by the workholders, electrical switches 5d being provided to stop the machine when no brush body is on holder 6. In yet another modification Fig. 14 (not shown) the magazine is closed by a spring 50 actuated by the workholder 6. The drilling and filling tools are arranged horizontally or vertically.
