Abstract
102,243. Smallwood, A. Nov. 19, 1915. Di.scharging; cooling discharged materials. - In connexion with the transfer of articles from a vertical furnace a to a cooling or tempering tank 2, the sealing-device 3, which dips into the liquid in the tank and prevents access of air, can be lifted from its sealing position to allow the tank to be moved laterally from beneath the discharging - opening. The movement of the sealing-device is effected by a cable 8 passing over suitably-arranged pulleys, and guiding-means 7 are provided. The tank 2 may be formed with a cooling-jacket 6. The furnace closure r and its operating-mechanism are enclosed within a chamber between the furnace and the tank, and are constructed as described in Specification 102,242.
