Abstract

A coated film capable of taking a reproducible marking, has a base consisting of a transparent film of a high molecular organic substance other than a linear polyester and a superposed solid coating produced from a film former, other than a polycondensed mixed ester of terephthalic acid, and containing a glass powder of a grain size under 30m , e.g. from 0,1-5m . The base may consist of a transparent film of cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, or polycarbonate and the film former may be a macromolecular natural substance, e.g. gelatine, agar-agar, or alginic acid, or a synthetic material, e.g. phenol-formaldehyde resin. The glass powder may consist of 3,5% by weight of particles of a grain size of 0,1-1m while the remainder has a grain size of from 1m -5m The coating may be applied as a solution or dispersion of film former with glass powder, the coating dried and cured as necessary.
