Abstract

A polyolefin is stabilized with a mixture of certain bis-(hydroxyphenyl) alkanoic acid esters with sulphur containing phosphites or phosphonites. Optionally calcium stearate may be present. In the examples, the stabilizers used are 4,4-bis-(41-hydroxyphenyl)-pentanoic acid, dodecyl ester, 3,3 - bis - (41 - hydroxy - 31 - methyl - phenyl) - butanoic acid dodecyl ester, tris - (octylmercaptoethyl) - phosphite, tris-(octadecylmercaptoethyl) - phosphite, tris - [di-(octylmercapto) - propyl - (2)] - phosphite, bis-(octylmercaptoethyl) - phenyl - phosphonite, bis - (octadecylmercaptoethyl) - phenylphosphonite, and bis - [di - (octadecylmercapto)-propyl - (2)] - phenyl - phoshonite.
