Abstract

1,020,799. Resilient joints. RIV OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA S.p.A. March 24, 1964 [May 10, 1963], No. 12455/64. Heading F2S. A resilient joint comprises a rubber sleeve 12 interposed and radially pre-compressed between and without bonding to a rigid outer bushing 10 and a rigid inner bushing 11 (Fig. 1, not shown). The inner surface of the outer bushing and the outer surface of the inner bushing are concave and convex respectively with curvature centres of their generatrices located on a transverse mid-plane M of the joint. The curvature centres O of the mutually opposed generatrices at one side of the geometrical axis X of the joint are both located, off the geometrical centre 0<SP>1</SP> of the joint and at the opposite side of the axis, between the geometrical centre and the inner surface on the outer bushing or on the inner surface. In the construction shown the generatrices are each an arc of a circle but in a modification these are arcs of an ellipse (Fig. 2, not shown). The maximum outer diameter of inner bushing 11 is smaller than the minimum inner diameter of the outer bushing 10 such that the joint may be easily assembled. The mean curvatures of the inner and outer surfaces may be unequal. The outer bushing may be formed in two halves which are clamped together in forming the joint.
