A chair comprises a frame having transverse struts 2, 3 for the mounting of a flexible member 1 forming the seat surface, a resilient support member 6 of sheet material being mounted on the transverse strut 3, the remainder of the member being freely flexible but sufficiently stiff to serve as a resilient support when the chair is in use. The member 6 may have a bent marginal portion 6b to embrace the strut 3.
