Abstract

102,043. Godward, E. R. Nov. 4, 1915, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-A carburettor comprises an inner tube 1 fixed to a base 6, an outer tube 3 fixed to the base 6 and to the inductionpipe connexion 5, and an intermediate tube 2 which is lifted by suction acting upon its coneshaped top 15, the apex of the cone entering the inner tube 1. The tubes 1, 2 are covered internally and externally, and the tube 3 internally only with gauze, the whole forming a chamber lined with absorbent material and which expands from the mixture inlet to the induction pipe, Lateral movement of the tube 2 is prevented by bent wire pieces 14 attached thereto. The inner tube encloses the adjustable nozzle 9, to the upper end of which is fitted a roll of gauze 10. The flow of air entering at 7 is controlled by a helical spring 12, the coils of which are normally closed and are opened by suction. The larger diameter of the spring may be at the bottom instead of at the top as shown. A screen 13 prevents back-firing.
