Abstract

The invention comprises 1-adamantanethiol and its preparation by hydrolysing 1-adamantylisothiuronium bromide. The latter may be prepared by (a) reacting 1-bromoadamantane with thiourea in glacial acetic acid and hydrobromic acid; or (b) reacting 1-adamantanol with thiourea and hydrobromic acid.
