A coulometric cell for, for example, generating electrolytically the reagent in a titration process comprises abody 1 Fig. 1 of the Provisional Specification (not shown) of accurately fitting parts of a synthetic resin such as methyl methacrylate having inlet and outlet passages 13, 15 connected by pipes 14,16 leading into three chambers formed by the block 1 ,end plates 5 and a pair of porous discs 3 of sintered glass. Platinum spiral electrodes are provided in the two outer chambers connected through the end plates to terminals 12. Bolts are passed through the two rings 8, and the end plates are held by threaded rings 7. Sealing rings are provided at the seatings. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown) the porous discs and electrodes are housing in two rectangular outer blocks and a flat bored central plate provides the central chamber. The end block assemblies are each held by a pair of screws on one diagonal and the three portions are secured by two long bolts on the other diagonal in order to facilitate dissembly for cleaning purposes. To this end also the inlet to the central chamber is led in from one end, through an inclined passage to co-operate with an aperture in the central plate.
