Abstract
1,019,794. Electric immersion heaters. SANTON Ltd. May 17, 1963 [May 17, 1962], No. 18954/62. Heading H5H. A sheathed wire heating element 7 is secured in the head 4 of an electric immersion heater by being fitted in an aperture in a lug 5 integral with the head 4, placing a rubber, plastics or like resilient ring 10 in a recess in the upper part of the lug and peening over the top 11 of the lug to press ring 10 against the sheath of element 7 to form a watertight joint with the element sheath. In a second embodiment, for an immersion heater with a sheet metal head 12 (Fig. 3, not shown) a sheathed wire heating element 14 is secured in a separate lug 13 by the method described above. The log 13 is fastened to the sheet metal head 12 by fitting the lug in an aperture in the head, with a resilient ring 16 in a recess in the lug and abutting the head and peening the metal of the lug over the underside of the head pressing it against the ring to form a watertight joint.
