Abstract

1,019,650. Inflatable lifejacket. MINISTER OF AVIATION. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 21, 1963], No. 45976/63. Headings B7S and B7U. A device for bursting open a package to release a store e.g. a lifejacket comprises an inflatable tubular member 13 located between components of the package and erectable by inflation to burst open the package. The tube 13 having sealed ends and comprising an impervious liner contained within a nylon fabric outer cover is positioned between closing members 10, 11 adjacent press studs 12a. The attached end lengths 14, 15 of the tube are connected to a pressure gas storage bottle (not shown) via inlet 16. When the tube is inflated it stands erect to force members 10, 11 apart, disengaging press studs 12a, 12b.
